Hop Practice/Cardio Program Feedback Survey
As a part of a newly proposed Heath Initiative Committee for the chapter, a Hop Practice/Cardio Program would be its principal focus. Along with the a major push of the 50 Million Pound Challenge, the importance of healthy eating and proper exercise can become a major focus of Omega through the Kappa Xi chapter.


Brothers the facts are in:

"African American adults are less likely to be diagnosed with coronary heart disease, however they are more likely to die from heart disease. Although African American adults are 40% more likely to have high blood pressure, they are 10% less likely than their non-Hispanic White counterparts to have their blood pressure under control.

* In 2005, African American men were 30% more likely to die from heart disease, as compared to non-Hispanic white men.
* African Americans were 1.5 times as likely as non-Hispanic whites to have high blood pressure."


Of all black men 20 years or older between 2003-2006...

* 71.6% were overweight or obese
* 26.5% had high blood pressure (hypertension)

Party Hops/Marches - the high-energy marches usually seen performed my the younger brothers of the chapter.

Cardio/Endurance - a focus on proper warm-up followed calisthenics that keep the heart rate consistent followed by a brief cool-down.

Mixture of both - beginning the session with a brief warm-up followed by calisthenics to get the heart rate up and then followed by the teaching of high-energy (and low-energy) party hops/marches.
